Official sources disagree — see the note below.
Emissions test
None. Florida ran an emissions programme in six counties until 2001 and has not had one since. Nothing to book, anywhere in the state.
VIN inspection
Yes. A VIN and odometer verification on form HSMV 82042, which can be signed by a law-enforcement officer, a Florida licensed dealer, a county tax collector employee, or a Florida notary.
Your insurance
You will need a Florida policy — at least $10,000 PIP and $10,000 property damage, from an insurer licensed in Florida.
Worth knowing

FLHSMV says 10 days. Palm Beach and Pinellas County Tax Collectors both say 30 days, for the same situation — and the county offices are the ones who process the paperwork. The statutes do not settle it. Plan for 10 days to be safe, and call your county tax collector to confirm. We would rather flag this than pick a number and be wrong.
